  • Reflection Journal Entry #3: First Draft of Persuasive Essay
    • Step 1: Choose one of the human rights discussed in class:
      • right to have rights
      • right to be loved
      • right not to be forced to work
      • right to physical and emotional protection
      • right to an education
      • right to health care
      • right to have access to food
      • right to have a name and nationality
      • right not to be separated from parents
    • Step 2: List three reasons why you think this right is more important than others.
    • Step 3: Write an essay that...
      • explains your perspective on the right you chose (introduction),
      • your reasons for thinking it is the most important (body),
      • and how the right connects to you personally--something you read about, saw on T.V., experienced, etc.--(conclusion).
        • Use the vocabulary words we are focusing on: debate, controversy, perspective, justify and bias.
        • Use the persuasive language we learn in class to help you write your essay.

Week of August 16-20
